All-Wheel Drive Problems? Check the Transfer Case

If your 4-wheel or all-wheel drive vehicle is having difficulties switching in and out of the mode, it might be time to look at your transfer case and have the fluid replaced. You might be wondering what a transfer case is, what it does, and how often the fluid should be replaced.

The transfer case is the device that redistributes weight so that your tires can gain traction. Like many kinds of fluids, the fluid in the transfer case lubricates the parts inside. Over time, the lubricant can begin to break down. This is one time that you might have to do work on the transfer case. Another instance is in rare cases in which the fluid leaks from a seal, thereby creating a need for the fluid to be replaced and the transfer case to be repaired.

If you're having troubles with your 4-wheel or all-wheel drive vehicle, come to our service centre at Betterway Sales & Leasing in Stoney Creek, and we'll tell you if it's a problem with your transfer case.
